BIOGRAPH


Dr. Victor Mivumbi Ndicunguye, MD, MMed, MSc, FCOG (ECSA), GWHF (JHU), is the President of the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. With over 15 years of experience and an expert in public health service delivery, he has a significant background in mentoring and providing integrated RMNCH/GHS/Malaria services. Currently, Dr. Mivumbi serves as the Deputy Chief of Party and Technical Director for the USAID/Tubeho Project at Jhpiego Rwanda, where he offers technical oversight and strategic direction to ensure effective implementation of RMNCH/GHS, and malaria programs. In this role, he supports the Ministry of Health (MoH) by developing strategic documents, updating training materials, guidelines, and protocols for RMNCH in Rwanda, and guiding sub-grantees, including professional associations such as RSOG, RPA, and RAM, to align with both project and MoH goals. On additional, Dr Mivumbi initiated and led the obstetrician’s gynecologist residency program in level II teaching hospital and the expansion of sexual and reproductive health in the supported districts in collaboration with MoH and university of Rwanda.

Previously, as the Maternal and Child Health Specialist for the Rwanda Ministry of Health, MCH department, Dr. Mivumbi coordinated the National Maternal Child and Neonatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) system, leading the development and implementation of MPDSR guidelines in Rwanda. His experience also includes serving as a Consultant OB/GYN at Kigali Teaching Hospital and King Faisal Hospital, where he was involved in teaching intern doctors, training residents in obstetrics, and providing lectures at the University of Rwanda.

Dr. Mivumbi has conducted and published numerous studies in international journals and has supported interns in developing their theses for undergraduate programs. Additionally, he is an active member of the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council (RMDC), the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG), and serves as a Council member of the East, Central, and Southern College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ECSCOG), where he chairs the Examination and Credential Committee.
